The Ogun State Police Command on Tuesday arraigned the suspended Olorile of Orile-Ifo, Oba Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi, for allegedly assaulting a 73-year-old chief, Abraham Areola.
Ogunjobi appeared in court on a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to disrupt public peace.
Confirming the development, Nigeria Police Force spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated, “Kabiyesi Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, who was seen in a viral video assaulting an elderly man in Ifo, Ogun State, has been arraigned in court today, February 4, 2025, on charges of conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.”

Bail Granted, Case Adjourned
The suspended monarch was granted bail, and the case was adjourned to March 6, 2025, for further proceedings.
Adejobi reaffirmed the police’s commitment to upholding justice, emphasizing that “the police will continue to enforce the rule of law and maintain the core values of the profession.”

The incident, which sparked widespread outrage, was captured in a viral video showing Ogunjobi verbally and physically attacking Areola. In response, the Ogun State Government swiftly suspended the monarch for six months, pending further investigations.
