The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their confidence in his leadership during his first media chat, held in Ikoyi, Lagos on Monday night. The president acknowledged the economic challenges faced by citizens and pledged to deliver service with commitment and focus, Egalitarian Voice reports.
“2025 is a very promising year. I seek your cooperation and understanding. I understand the troubles you’ve been through. It is just 18 months since I assumed office, but I assure you we are on the right path,” Tinubu said. He emphasized the importance of believing in the nation, stating, “Tomorrow will bring a glorious dawn.”
Tax Reform and Economic Recovery
Tinubu defended his administration’s tax reforms, describing them as essential for retooling Nigeria’s economy. “We cannot continue to operate with outdated systems. It will not be Eldorado for everyone, but a new dawn is here. I am convinced, and you should be convinced too,” he stated.
Security and Anti-Corruption
Addressing security concerns, the president assured Nigerians of significant progress in combating insecurity and corruption. He promised thorough investigations into recent incidents and outlined plans to ensure safety across the nation.
Tragedies and Future Outlook
The president expressed condolences for recent tragedies in Ibadan, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory, where stampedes during palliative distributions resulted in the loss of 65 lives. He assured Nigerians of improved measures to prevent such occurrences and a better Christmas and New Year for citizens in 2025.
President Tinubu concluded by urging Nigerians to remain hopeful and united, reiterating his administration’s commitment to delivering a better future for the country.
