As I reflect on Ambassador Taofeek Oladejo Arapaja’s life and career, I am filled with awe and admiration for this remarkable individual. His journey from humble beginnings in Ibadan to becoming a respected diplomat and politician is a testament to his dedication, perseverance, and passion for service.
Born on November 10, 1958, to Mr. and Mrs. Oladimeji Oladejo Arapaja of Kudeti/Idi Arere, Ibadan, Oyo State, Ambassador Arapaja began his educational journey at Ibadan Public Day School, Kobomoje, Ibadan (1966-1972), and later attended Lagelu Grammar School, Agugu, Ibadan (1973-1978), where he served as President of the Muslim Students’ Society (MSS).
He furthered his education in the United Kingdom, obtaining a Diploma in Marketing from the Institute of Marketing, a Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Wales, Institute of Science and Technology, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance & Marketing) from the University of Wales, Cardiff (1986).
Throughout his career, Ambassador Arapaja has demonstrated a unique blend of grassroots politics and diplomatic finesse. He joined politics in November 1991 as a National Delegate and later held various positions, including:
– Part-time Commissioner in the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission (1992-1993)
– Executive Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government (1996-1997)
– Federal House of Representatives member (2003-2007)
– Deputy Governor of Oyo State (2007-2011)
– Nigerian Ambassador to Jordan (2012-2015)
– Ambassador to Iraq (2014-2015)
Additionally, he has served as the former PDP National Vice Chairman, South West, and is presently the PDP Deputy National Chairman (South).

His achievements include ensuring direct flights between Jordan and Nigeria and facilitating bilateral agreements between Jordan and Nigeria. His commitment to Oyo State and Nigeria’s development is unwavering.
