One of Governor Seyi Makinde’s most notable achievements in this challenging times is the introduction of the extra allowance for workers. The People’s Governor approved the payment of N25,000 to workers and N15,000 to pensioners as wage award in the state for the next six months. The extra allowance is intended to help workers cope with the rising cost of living.

However, it was reported that some workers at the Pacesetter Transport Service Company had not received their wage award money. The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) expressed dismay over the delay in payment.
The NLC in Oyo State, on its part, commended the state government for its commitment to paying workers on time. However, the NLC also expressed concern about this rare delay in the payment of wages for workers at Pacesetter Transport Service PTS Oyo State under the leadership of a man with full capacity, well refined and friendly, Chairman/Sole Administrator, Hon Dr Ibraheem Oladeji Salami DIKKO.
Hon. Dikko Salami, the Chairman and Sole Administrator of Oyo State Pacesetters Transport Services Company, promptly intervened to address the issue. He met with the AUPCTRE and assured them that the workers would receive their money. The Chairman attributed the delay to bureaucratic processes and made them feel heard by letting them know that he understands their concerns, given Makinde’s commitment to paying a N25,000 wage award for all public servants.
Hon. Dikko Salami assured workers of immediate relief, stating: “As a way of ensuring that the whole situation is salvaged, we released an amount of N10,000 each to the workers. Probably when we receive the whole supplementary bill, then we will refund it back.”
Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Oyo State, Kayode Martins, who played a reconciliatory role, confirmed that the issue had been resolved amicably.
This timely intervention by Hon. Dikko Salami has averted further disruptions to Pacesetter Transport Service operations and demonstrates his commitment to addressing the concerns of public servants in Oyo State.
