Acting CJN: Six (6) Exceptional Things You Need To Know About Olukayode Tajudeen Ariwoola

An Iseyin born jurist, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola is expected to be new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) on following the sudden resignation of Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad as the head of the nation’s judiciary.

Justice Ariwoola is currently the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court.

Here are the Six (6) Exceptional things to know about the new Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria:

1. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola was born on August 22, 1954.

2. He obtained degree in law (LL.B) from University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University).

3. He hails from Iseyin, in the Oke Ogun area of Oyo state.

4. Prior to becoming a Justice of the Supreme Court, Ariwoola was appointed a judge of the Oyo State High Court in 1992 and later made a Justice of the Court of Appeal in November 2005.

5. On November 22, 2011, he was appointed to the bench of the Supreme Court of Nigeria as Justice.

6. He is a Member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the International Bar Association, and the Nigerian Body of Benchers.
