Oyo South Senatorial District aspirant and grassroots mobiliser, Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi (BASA), has described the recent Supreme Court judgment nullifying the Ibadan convention, as a welcome development that strengthens stability within the political space and reinforces confidence in democratic processes ahead of 2027.

BASA, in a statement made available to supporters on Thursday afternoon, said the ruling reflects the resilience of Nigeria’s judiciary and would help in restoring order where political disagreements had previously created tension.
She noted that the development is particularly reassuring for members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), adding that the party is now better positioned and “in safer hands” as it prepares for future political engagements.
According to her, “What we have seen from the Supreme Court is a clear message that the rule of law must always prevail. For us in PDP, this is a moment to refocus, reorganize, and move forward with unity.”

BASA called on Nigerians, particularly political stakeholders and supporters across Oyo State, to align with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), noting that the party remains a platform for “progress, unity, and better governance.”
She further urged citizens to remain committed to democratic engagement and to support leaders who prioritize development and people-oriented policies.

Political observers say the ruling may have implications for ongoing political alignments within the state, especially as parties reposition ahead of future elections.
