The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for eligible voters in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), ahead of the February 21 Area Council Elections.
Egalitarian Voice reports that the announcement was made via INEC’s official X (formerly Twitter) page on Thursday.
According to the Commission, the PVC collection exercise will run from January 22 to January 26, 2026, across all Registration Areas (Wards) within the FCT.

INEC stated that the exercise will take place daily between 9:00am and 3:00pm, urging registered voters to take advantage of the window to collect their cards in preparation for the forthcoming polls.
The Commission further disclosed that after the ward-level exercise, PVC collection will continue at the INEC Area Council Offices, to ensure no eligible voter is disenfranchised.

INEC encouraged all eligible voters in the FCT to collect their PVCs early and participate actively in the democratic process, stressing that the PVC remains the only valid document for voting on election day.

The February 21 Area Council Election is expected to determine leadership at the grassroots level across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
