“Yorùbá Is the Best Language Understood by God,” Says Agba-Oloye Lekan Alabi

Agba-Oloye Lekan Alabi has described Yorùbá as “the best language understood by God in the universe,” citing its depth, respectfulness, and rich cultural heritage.
He made this assertion on Thursday, January 22, 2026, while speaking at a public conference organised by U3A Nigeria-French International, in collaboration with AIUTA, USA. The event event held at the Oyo State House of Chiefs Chambers, Government Secretariat, Ibadan, Egalitarian Voice reports.

Speaking as the Chairman of the Occasion, Agba-Oloye Alabi noted that the Yorùbá language is deeply enriched with parables, proverbs, and idiomatic expressions that convey wisdom, values, and moral lessons. He further emphasised that Yorùbá stands out globally for its culture of respect, particularly in the manner of addressing elders and authority.

According to him, language remains a powerful vehicle for preserving identity, history, and communal values, stressing the need for younger generations to embrace and protect indigenous languages.
Agba-Oloye Lekan Alabi is a revered chief in the Olubadan-in-Council, Oyo State.
The theme of the 2026 conference was titled: “Educational Gerontology in Africa Now and in the Future: Domiciling Gerontology as a Course of Study in Nigerian/African Universities.”

The conference attracted several prominent personalities, youth organisations such as the Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC) and Oyo State Youth Emancipation Stance (OYES), National Orientation Agency (NOA), religious leaders, business tycoons, academics, and other stakeholders.
The event provided a platform for robust discussions on ageing, lifelong education, and the future of gerontology studies in Africa.
