The Federal Government has officially announced that Mathematics will no longer be a compulsory requirement for students seeking admission into Arts and Humanities programmes in Nigerian universities and polytechnics.
The policy applies to candidates presenting WAEC or NECO results for tertiary education.
According to the Federal Ministry of Education, the new guideline is designed to ease access to higher institutions and eliminate barriers previously faced by Arts students.

Under the new framework, Mathematics is excluded from compulsory requirements for courses strictly under Arts and Humanities, while English remains mandatory for all programmes.
