Why Igboho Files Lawsuit Against Gani Adams(DETAILS)
Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, commonly known as Sunday Igboho, has initiated legal proceedings alleging defamation of character against Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland.
This action comes in response to recent allegations made by Adams in a leaked audio conversation, where he purportedly accused Igboho of being an assassin allegedly employed by President Bola Tinubu for illicit activities. Adams also suggested a connection between Igboho and the assassination of former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Bola Ige, in 2001.
In a suit filed with the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, marked I/406/2024, Igboho is seeking N500 million in aggravated damages over the leaked audio, which he claims has tarnished his reputation. The write of summons, disclosed to newsmen in Ibadan, outlines Igboho’s demands, including a declaration that the contents of the audio clip are slanderous, libelous, and defamatory.
