Who Will Wike Support? Minister Finally Opens Up on FCT Election

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he will support only candidates who align with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda in the forthcoming FCT Area Councils election scheduled for February 21, Egalitarian Voice reports.
Wike made the statement on Saturday night in Abuja during the 60th birthday celebration of Senator Sandy Onor.
Addressing guests at the event, the minister reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Tinubu, stating that he would back candidates who share the President’s vision, irrespective of their political affiliation. Wike described the celebrant as a dependable ally, loyal friend, and brother, noting that Onor has remained steadfast through challenging times. He pledged continued solidarity and expressed confidence that Onor would equally stand by his family if the need ever arose.

In a citation read at the ceremony, Prof. Anthony Eyang noted that Onor, born on February 14, 1966, in Ikom, Cross River State, was raised with strong community values and discipline. He traced Onor’s journey from academia at the University of Calabar to the Nigerian Senate and active politics in Cross River State, describing it as a life devoted to scholarship, leadership, and public service.
