The Yoruba Youth Council (YYC), the apex umbrella body representing Yoruba youths both at home and in the diaspora, has declared its unwavering support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In a communiqué issued after its National Executive Council meeting presided over by the President, Aare Alawode Rahmon Akintunde, the Council, through its National Publicity Secretary, Ogbeni Ajibode Abd’kabir, cautioned that any attempt by individuals, groups, or political interests to destabilize the present administration would be met with strong, coordinated resistance from Yoruba youths across the country.

“We will not fold our arms and watch anyone undermine the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Yoruba people have a long-standing history of defending democracy, stability, and good governance. Any plot to distract or derail this government will be strongly resisted,” the statement said.
The Council further noted that it has become a recurring pattern that whenever a Yoruba leader occupies a central position of authority, certain forces conspire to frustrate such leadership citing the historical experiences of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Bola Ige, and other Yoruba heroes.
“This time, we will resist and defend against any force, no matter who is involved, that attempts to disrupt the impactful and purpose-driven presidency of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom God has sent to put an end to the deeply rooted corruption in our nation,” the statement added.
YYC expressed confidence that President Tinubu will complete a two-term tenure, delivering greatly on the mandate entrusted to him by the majority of Nigerians.

The Council emphasized that while it welcomes constructive criticism and issue-based engagement, it will not tolerate divisive actions or clandestine moves aimed at inciting unrest or undermining national stability.
It therefore called on all Nigerians to unite behind the President in the collective pursuit of national development, peace, and progress, urging agitators to embrace dialogue and lawful engagement rather than actions capable of jeopardizing the nation’s unity.
Reaffirming its commitment to promoting unity, democracy, and socio-economic advancement across the South-West and Nigeria at large, the Yoruba Youth Council reiterated its readiness to defend democratic institutions and the rule of law.
“This is a defining moment for our nation. Yoruba youths will continue to stand firm in defense of democracy and the rule of law. We will not allow the sacrifices of our heroes to be eroded by selfish interests,” the statement concluded.
