Victory At Last: Awe Reclaims Her Ancestral Land Through Supreme Court Judgement(DETAILS)
After an age long battle in different Courts of record in Nigeria, officials from the enforcement and litigation department of the Oyo State High Court finally executed two different judgements of both the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court on the 23rd day of August 2023 and the 18th of January 2024.
The Supreme Court judgment in SC/775/14 between Chief Akinpeninu Iyanda and ors vs Chief Afolabi Laniba which vested the large espanse of land known as Eleranko farmland, Kiyeseni and surrounding villages on Aweland and the Court of Appeal case of CA/IB/236/2017 between Chief Adeniyi Adebayo vs. Oba Cornelius Taiwo which confirmed Awe as the owner of the entire area ,known as Ijefon and its environ.
Meanwhile, heads of various villages affected have started approaching the Alaawe of Aweland who in turn is welcoming them as an understanding and peace loving father.
