The Oyo State chapter of the Association of Tutorial Schools Operators (ATSO) has urged parents and prospective candidates preparing for the 2026 examinations, particularly the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), to patronise only ATSO-accredited tutorial centres.

The call was made by the Governor of the Association and Proprietor of Intellectuals Tutorial Centres, Hon. Oladipupo Olalekan Shakirudeen, during an interactive session on a popular radio station in Ibadan.
Hon. Oladipupo expressed concern over the low turnout of students enrolling for tutorials, even as of the first week of January, a period when candidates ought to have completed at least three months of intensive preparation ahead of the 2026 examinations.
According to him, the situation is worrying, especially given the association’s set targets for the upcoming UTME.
“As an association, we have set a goal to produce students with outstanding results, including the most outstanding candidate in the national UTME ranking for 2026. It is disheartening that many parents are still keeping students at home at this crucial stage, when serious academic preparation should already be well underway,” he said.
He further advised parents and guardians to be cautious in choosing tutorial centres, stressing that only ATSO-accredited centres possess the required structure, qualified tutors, and curriculum to adequately prepare candidates for success.
“At every opportunity, I advise parents and students to patronise only ATSO-accredited tutorial centres. These centres have what it takes to prepare students for high scores and enable them to gain admission to study their desired courses in their preferred institutions,” Hon. Oladipupo stated.
He explained that parents can verify the authenticity of any tutorial centre by requesting its ATSO accreditation code, which can be confirmed through the association’s desk via 07037803259.

Hon. Oladipupo added that parents and students who experience dissatisfaction with any accredited centre are encouraged to lodge formal complaints through the same contact for prompt intervention.
The ATSO, he emphasized, remains committed to raising academic standards and ensuring that candidates in Oyo State are properly prepared to compete favourably at the national level.
