The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has announced the approval for the construction of two roads in Ibarapaland; the Ibadan to Eruwa road and the Igboora to Iganna road.
The Governor, who spoke at the World Twins Festival held at Methodist Grammar School which holds in Igboora recently, he also say it publicly that he will be flagging off his 2023 gubernatorial campaign in Igboora, one of the significant towns in the Ibarapa axis of Oyo State.
In his speech, Makinde noted that the twins’ festival was more than a celebration of twins but a potential for tourism which would be one of the pillars of his administration in the next tenure.
He said: “What we are here to celebrate today is beyond just celebrating the twins. We are talking about the potential for tourism at this event.
“You all remember when I came here to campaign here four years ago, I campaigned on four pillars; health, education, expansion of our economy through agribusiness, and security.
“I’m glad that on those four pillars, Oyo State has made significant progress.
“We had security challenges in Ibarapa in the past, but I’m glad that today everyone is going about their businesses.
“Before we came on board, there was no Amotekun, but today we now have Amotekun.
“I will flag off my campaign here in Igboora. So in a couple of weeks, I will be back to discuss politics. Today, we are here to enjoy and celebrate our twins.
“We will expand the pillar of expansion of our economy. It was agribusiness, but now we will add tourism.
“For tourism to be successful in Ibarapaland, we need infrastructure.
“Before I return to flag off my campaign here in Igboora, you would have seen contractors working on Ibadan to Eruwa road and Igboora to Iganna road.
“Ibarapa land will be fully integrated into the economic development of Oyo State.”
