The summit, hosted by the Tanzanian government in collaboration with the African Development Bank Group and the World Bank, brings together African leaders, private sector stakeholders, development partners, and civil society organizations to address the continent’s pressing energy challenges.

According to presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu will join other African heads of state to strategize on achieving universal energy access, promoting renewable energy solutions, and mobilizing private sector investment.

“The Summit provides a platform for sharing knowledge, expertise, and resources to address Africa’s energy challenges,” Onanuga said in a statement.

On the first day of the summit, Nigeria and other participating countries will present their national energy strategies, known as compacts. These strategies outline each nation’s roadmap for achieving universal energy access within five years.

The second day of the summit will see African leaders endorse the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, a unified roadmap designed to guide the continent toward the ambitious Mission 300 objectives—aiming for universal energy access across Africa.

Onanuga confirmed that President Tinubu will deliver Nigeria’s national statement during the summit, reaffirming its commitment to energy access and its leadership role in advancing Africa’s energy sector.

Accompanying the President on the trip are the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu; and the Special Adviser to the President on Energy, Olu Verheijen.
