In every generation, a leader emerges whose vision, courage, and commitment to progress stand out unmistakably. In the Southwest today, one such leader is His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE, the Executive Governor of Oyo State. His unwavering dedication to modern governance, infrastructural transformation, agricultural development, empowerment initiatives, and repositioning Oyo State for global competitiveness has earned him profound respect across the nation.
Oyo State has witnessed unprecedented development under his leadership. From massive road construction to enhanced agricultural output, from inclusive empowerment programmes to transparent and people-focused governance, Engr. Makinde has redefined what purposeful leadership should look like in Nigeria.
It is in this context that I must state this clearly:
Despite my personal concerns that I have not benefited directly from the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, despite my unwavering support and love for GSM alongside my team. I still hold deep admiration for his tenacity, vision, and relentless push for a better society. His transformational ideas and accomplishments in Oyo State speak volumes.
This level of honesty only reinforces the fact that true leadership appreciation goes beyond personal gain; it is rooted in the ability to see the larger picture of progress and service.
Recently, some narratives have circulated suggesting that Governor Makinde stands isolated within the PDP in the Southern region. But history teaches us that such moments often mark the rise of iconic leaders. This was the case with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his days as Governor of Lagos State. At a time when the PDP dominated almost every state in the South, Tinubu stood alone, yet he remained strategic, resilient, and focused. His ability to sustain his political structure eventually expanded his influence nationwide, culminating in his emergence as President of Nigeria.
What some perceive as isolation today is, in reality, the refinement process of a future national figure. It is a sign of a leader being prepared for greater responsibility. Engr. Seyi Makinde’s consistency, courage, political maturity, and commitment to truth place him on the path of national relevance.

While some may mock him, I see a rising national force; a morning star emerging from the Southwest. I see a rallying point for the unity and protection of the Yoruba race. I see a courageous icon whose influence will soon extend across Nigeria. Indeed, the nation should watch closely: a national leader of immense capacity is emerging.
Engr. Seyi Makinde carries the boldness of a lion; the fearless Ibadan spirit; standing for justice and truth even when it is inconvenient. This is exactly the type of leadership Nigeria needs in these defining times.
Truly, I see someone greater, stronger, and more visionary rising from the Yoruba race, a leader destined to shape the future of our nation.
