Governors of the South-West region have converged in Ibadan for an emergency meeting to address growing security concerns and other pressing regional issues.

The high-level session, holding behind closed doors at the Governor’s Office, Agodi, is being hosted by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde. In attendance are Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), while Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, is represented by his deputy.

Sources indicate that the urgent gathering was prompted by intelligence reports on the influx of bandits and criminal elements into the region, as well as the need to strengthen collective security frameworks.

The governors are expected to deliberate on:
- Rising security threats across the zone
- Enhancing regional cooperation under the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN)
- Reviewing and boosting the operational capacity of the Amotekun Corps
- Accelerating key infrastructural and economic integration plans
