Senators Get New Appointments as Akpabio reshuffles Senate standing commitees
The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday made some changes to the leadership of its standing committees as plenary resumed in Abuja.
The changes affected several lawmakers, including former Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Simon Lalong, who now leads the Senate Committee on INEC and Electoral Matters.
Lalong, who represents Plateau South under the APC, replaced Senator Sharafadeen Ali from Oyo South, also of the APC, who had been heading the committee since the 10th Senate began.
Senator Ali has now been moved to take charge of the Senate Committee on Agricultural Institutions and Research, a role Lalong previously held.

More changes followed, with Senator Pam Nwadkon of the PDP (Plateau North) stepping in as the new head of the Committee on Tourism.
He takes over from Senator Anthony Ani of APC (Ebonyi South), who has been reassigned as Vice Chairman of the South East Development Commission.
That position was earlier held by Senator Eze Kenneth from Ebonyi Central.
Despite the adjustments, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC, Abia North) remains Chairman of the South East Development Commission.
Meanwhile, Senator Emeka Eze (APC, Ebonyi Central) continues in his dual positions as Chairman of the Committee on Information and Vice Chairman of the Committee on Water Resources.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who announced the changes during the session, said the updates are part of efforts to keep Senate activities on track.
He also directed Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele to make sure that all committees prepare and present their reports to the chamber for further discussion.
