The Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content, Senator Teslim Folarin on Tuesday inaugurated a 100-bed Mother and Child Hospital at Abonde in Ona-Ara LGA of Oyo Central Senatorial District.
Teslim Folarin, who represents Oyo Central Senatorial District at the Senate, was also the Gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 General elections.
The project was inaugurated by the Lawmaker, alongside the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sustainable Development Goals, Her Excellency, Hon. (Mrs.) Victoria Orelope-Adefulire; and the Chief Medical Director of University College Hospital – Ibadan, Prof. Jesse Otegbayo.
According to Folarin, he facilitated the project to relief UCH – the only federal tertiary health institution in Oyo State in the area of qualitative healthcare of women and children in Oyo Central Senatorial District.
The 100-bed Mother and Child hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including operating theatres, recovery rooms, private and general wards, any room, consultation rooms and laboratory, ultra-scan machine, vacuum extractor delivery set and an Emergency Cart with full compliments.
It was understands that the advanced medical facility, facilitated by Folarin also has quarters for doctors and other medical personnel.
Folarin, a three-term senator, thanked the office of the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on SDGs for making the project feasible.
“Therefore, for and on behalf of the good people of Oyo Central Senatorial District and Oyo State at large, I extend most sincerest gratitude to Mr. President and H.E Hon. (Mrs.) Orelope-Adefulire for the consideration and successful completion of the project”, Folarin said.
Folarin added that the healthcare facility will be operational as soon as members of management board are appointed.
