Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing the housing deficit in the state through bold initiatives and strategic partnerships with the private sector.
Speaking on Tuesday at Lagos House, Ikeja, Governor Sanwo-Olu witnessed the presentation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the construction of 704 new housing units in Odo Nla, Ikorodu. The project, facilitated by the Lagos State Government in collaboration with Access Bank PLC, marks another milestone in the state’s efforts to provide affordable and decent housing for its residents.
The proposed housing estate will consist of 44 blocks of two-bedroom apartments, with 16 units per block. The project, expected to be completed within the next two years, will feature modern amenities such as a cinema house, gym center, playground, and a robust security network.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described the partnership as a significant step toward tackling the housing deficit, particularly for low-income earners in Lagos. He emphasized that addressing the housing shortfall requires bold initiatives and partnerships with private sector stakeholders.
“Our administration remains committed to providing affordable, decent homes for Lagosians. This partnership with Access Bank is a demonstration of the potential of public-private collaboration in driving housing development,” the Governor said.
He further noted that his government has streamlined approval processes and introduced various incentives to make Lagos an attractive destination for housing investments.
The collaboration with Access Bank PLC highlights the growing role of financial institutions in supporting infrastructure development and improving living standards for citizens.
The housing project is expected to provide much-needed relief to the growing population in Lagos, while also contributing to economic growth through job creation and infrastructure development.
