Ahead of the take-off of proceedings at the Presidential Election Tribunal, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed a team of 12 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) to represent the party at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
The team is comprised of legal luminaries with vast experience in election petition matters, constitutional law and litigation.
This team is aside from the 50 Senior Advocates of Nigeria led by Chief Wole Olankpekun (SAN) put together by the party’s Presidential Campaign Council.
A statement by the National Legal Adviser of the governing APC, Barr. Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq in Abuja on Tuesday, said Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, a renowned lawyer, who has successfully handled various high-profile election matters, will lead the party’s team to the tribunal.
The full list of the Legal team is as follows: “Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), Sam Ologunorisa (SAN), Rotimi Oguneso (SAN), Olabisi Soyebo (SAN), Gboyega Oyewoke (SAN), Murutala Oyewole (SAN), Aliyu Omeiza Saiki (SAN) and Tajudeen Oladoja (SAN).
Others are Pius Akubo (SAN), Oluseye Opasanya (SAN), Suraju Saida (SAN), Kazeem Adeniyi (SAN) and the National Legal Adviser of the party.
Expressing confidence for victory, El-Marzuq said: ” We are confident that the legal team possesses requisite expertise and experience to ensure a successful outcome for the APC in the Presidential Election Petition matters.

“We urge members of the Party to support the team in its effort to defend the will and mandate of the people. We also call on all parties involved to conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism and respect for the rule of law throughout the legal process.”
