The State House has responded to public calls for President Bola Tinubu’s return to Nigeria amid a series of murderous attacks on local communities in the last few days.
Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga maintained in a public statement he signed on Thursday that his principal’s scheduled return had been shared in a statement announcing his trip to Paris,
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully engaged in Nigeria’s governance even though he is away in Europe,” Onanuga said.
“His absence remains temporary and in line with the communicated timeframe of approximately two weeks.
“The president left Paris for London at the weekend and has maintained constant communication with key government officials, overseeing critical national matters, including directives to security chiefs to address emerging threats in some parts of the country.”
Tinubu would not return until after the national Easter holiday.
“His return to Abuja and the resumption of duties at Aso Villa will follow the conclusion of the Easter holiday,” Onanuga added.
“The President’s commitment to his duties remains unwavering, and his administration continues to function effectively under his leadership.”
Not less than 51 people, who were mostly children and youths, in the Kwall District of Bassa Local Government area of Plateau State were murdered by suspected herders on Palm Monday.
The incident had displaced several persons from their homesteads. This mindless bloodshed and destruction adds to the series of attacks on Plateau and elsewhere in the last one year.
