Politics Is Local: Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi (BASA) Returns Home to ADC, Picks Up Membership Card from Ward 5, Ibadan North

In a symbolic return to her political roots, Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi (BASA) on Monday, July 21, 2025, formally rejoined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and collected her membership card from Ward 5, Ibadan North Local Government Area, Oyo State.

The event marked a significant moment in her political journey and reaffirmed her long-standing commitment to grassroots democracy. Hon. Sarumi, accompanied by ward leaders, party supporters, and local government coordinators from across Oyo State, reiterated her belief that genuine politics must begin at the community level.

Following the registration, she led her team to the ADC State Secretariat, where she received a warm welcome from the party’s state leadership, including; Alhaji Olona, State Chairman, Mr. Abiola Oluyemi, State Secretary, Barrister Bimpe Adelowo, State Publicity Secretary and others.

During the reception, State Chairman Alhaji Olona paid heartfelt tribute to Hon. Sarumi’s late father, Hon. Alli Balogun Sarumi, affectionately known as “Alli Bay.” He described the elder Sarumi as “a principled politician and a selfless servant of the people,” recalling his distinguished service at the National Assembly in 1999.

The party leadership commended BASA for her humility, unwavering dedication, and her reputation as a unifying figure. “You have consistently demonstrated leadership, loyalty, and a collaborative spirit. We are proud to welcome you back to the ADC,” said the Chairman.

In her remarks, Hon. Sarumi expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception and reflected on her earlier political affiliations. “ADC was the first political platform recommended to me by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2018. Returning to this party feels like a homecoming,” she said.

She further announced the commencement of her grassroots mobilization efforts. “We are already engaging with communities door-to-door. My goal is to contribute meaningfully to building a party structure anchored on unity, inclusion, and sustainable progress,” she added.

The party executives extended their best wishes for her political endeavors, while BASA pledged her full support for strengthening the ADC at all levels—local, state, and national.

Today’s event was not merely about picking up a party card; it was a reaffirmation of loyalty, a rekindling of legacy, and a declaration of renewed purpose.

Signed,
Office of Hon. Bolanle Aminat Sarumi (BASA)
