Ona Ara Local Government And The Saga Of Strange Men – Windapo Oluwole and Fadeyi Muhammed Abiodun || By Akano Olowe
Ibadan, the ancient metropolitan city of hospitality is known for her welcoming nature. And this has drawn many people to the city either as residents or businessmen. There is no doubt that this very reason has popularised Ibadan as a city and cushioned in more developments. However, this has adverse effects on the people since most of these strange men wrestle opportunities with original indigenes of Ibadan by claiming to be indigenes and denying the real indigenes the dividends of democracy. It wouldn’t have made a sensible argument if these cronies sincerely give their all for the betterment of the city of firsts.
Of course, the story is not different in Ona Ara Local Government as over time the municipality has witnessed the comings and goings of strange men who claim to be indigenes of Ona Ara Local Government. It is a great development that we are being associated with and this is jealously appreciated because even the Great Julius Ceasar was a stranger in Roman. But where these men wrestle power without core intention to give a face-lift to the municipality with their principality then coming to this space to reject them won’t be unnecessary.

At this material political period with our match into another electioneering era where the council chairmen would be chosen by the people at the grassroot I feel it is apt to question the identity of these people – Oluwole Windapo and Hon. Fadeyi Muhammed Abiodun. It is no longer news that Hon. Abiodun Muhammed Fadeyi from Ilé Onílù Ogbomoso is an indigene of the popular Ogbomoso and the son of a drummer to Onipetu but to our dismay is a second term Honourable representing Ona Ara Local Government. It is pertinent to mention that since his sworn-in in 2019 he has not sponsored any fundamental project in our local Government and he has been having contributory retrogressive contributions to the development of the council.
Well, if that is left unnoticed by the people of Ona Ara Local Government just because he is an Honourable then I don’t think giving a “siddon look” would make a better option where the selection of the man to steer the affairs of our local council is concerned. Windapo Oluwole is an Ijesha man from Osun state. So entrusting the affairs of this local Government in his care would be an affront and aberration. Therefore, the leadership of Peoples Democratic Party must see it as a necessity to choose the right man who truly has the love of his people at heart for the development of our local council.
