Political Earthquake in Enugu: PDP Loses Veteran Strategist Engr. Chinwe Mbah in Shock Resignation

In a development sending shockwaves through the political landscape of Enugu State and beyond, renowned party strategist and respected administrator, Chief Engr. Chinwe Mbah (FNSE) — widely known as Adaejiejemba — has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), bringing an end to many years of influential and unwavering service.

Her resignation, contained in a letter sighted by Egalitarian Voice addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ukehe Ward 5 in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, followed what she described as deep personal reflection and wide-ranging consultations with supporters, stakeholders, and community influencers.

Engr. Mbah, a veteran of internal party administration, noted that she dedicated her “ingenuity, capacity, and professional excellence” to the PDP’s internal structures for more than a decade. She stressed that her decision to leave was not taken lightly but became necessary after reviewing her journey within the party.

Over the years, she served in some of the PDP’s most sensitive and strategic roles, including:

  • Chairman, South-South National Assembly Electoral Appeal Panel (2021)

  • Secretary, South-West National Assembly Electoral Appeal Panel (2021)

  • Secretary, Ebonyi State Gubernatorial Primary Electoral Committee (2018)

  • Chairman, Ebonyi State Congress Electoral Committee for Electing State Executives (2020)

  • Chairman, South-South Zonal Congress Screening Appeal Panel (2014)

  • Member, South-West Screening Appeal Panel (2021)

  • Secretary, Edo State House of Assembly Primary Electoral Committee (2018)

  • Secretary, PDP Ebonyi State Caretaker Committee (2016)

  • Secretary, Edo State House of Representatives Primary Electoral Committee (2018)

  • Three-time Secretary, Edo State Ward/Local Government Congresses

She emphasized that each assignment was carried out with integrity, loyalty, transparency, and an unwavering belief in internal democracy — values she said guided her political service for years.

While Engr. Mbah did not reveal her next political destination, her exit is widely regarded as a significant blow to the PDP in Enugu State, considering her deep roots, extensive experience, and formidable network across regions. Political observers say her departure may reshape alignments ahead of forthcoming political cycles.

She ended her resignation letter by expressing profound gratitude to the PDP leadership for the trust, opportunities, and responsibilities she was given throughout her long years of service.

Her next move is now eagerly anticipated across the state’s political circles.
