PFN Declares 40-Day Prayer, Fasting to Revive Nigeria

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has issued a national call for Nigerians to unite in a 40-day period of prayer and fasting aimed at easing the nation’s economic hardship and securing divine favour for prosperity and revival.

PFN’s President, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, and Deputy President, Archbishop John Daniel, announced the initiative during a press briefing held in Abuja on Friday.

They revealed that the programme will kick off on January 6, 2025, culminating in a nationwide prayer gathering in Abuja on February 14, 2025.

Bishop Oke highlighted that this initiative would lead into the PFN’s 18th Biennial Conference, scheduled to run from February 10 to 14, 2025, in Abuja.

Themed “The Rebirth of a Great Nation: Nigeria is Great,” the conference is anticipated to draw thousands from the Christian community and beyond.

PFN leaders are mobilizing Pentecostal churches, believers, and willing citizens across the country to engage in this concerted effort, focusing on prayers for national transformation.

The upcoming conference is set to host influential Nigerians who will speak on key issues, providing insights and practical steps for navigating Nigeria’s current challenges.

“Nigeria’s hardships are a shared burden,” Oke remarked, emphasizing that both leaders and citizens alike bear the responsibility of reviving the country. He urged Nigerians to commit themselves to the cause, asserting that collective action and prayer could help usher Nigeria out of hardship.

Drawing a parallel with the Biblical story of Nineveh, Oke expressed his faith that, just as God showed mercy to the people of Nineveh, He would respond to Nigeria’s pleas.

“In the Bible, when judgment was pronounced on Nineveh, the king and the people cried out for mercy, and God heard their prayers. We believe that the same God who delivered Nineveh is alive today and will hear our cry. This period of prayer and fasting is a key aspect of our biennial conference. We believe God will answer our prayers,” Oke said.
