Tensions are brewing in Osun State amid rumors of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s alleged plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC)…..KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE
Reports suggest the governor and his close associates are exploring the move to solidify his grip on power at the Abere Government Secretariat in Osogbo.
Sources claim Adeleke’s attempts to finalize the defection through meetings with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have been met with resistance within the presidency, hindering progress.
APC chieftain Sunday Akere alleged that Adeleke sought an automatic return ticket by joining the APC but was rebuffed. Akere clarified that while the governor is free to join the party, the governorship ticket is not available for negotiation.
Responding to the allegations, Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, dismissed the reports as “fake news from the pit of hell,” accusing the opposition of fabricating stories due to a lack of credible candidates for the 2026 gubernatorial election.
Rasheed reaffirmed that Governor Adeleke remains committed to governance and collaboration with the Federal Government, emphasizing there are no plans for defection to the APC.
