PDP Not In A Vegetative State – Ologunagba
The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Debo Ologunagba, has debunked claims that the opposition party is now in a “vegetative state”, following the defection of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ologunagba, who spoke during an interview on Arise Television, admitted that the party is facing internal challenges but maintained that the PDP remains solid and people-driven despite recent political developments.
“The PDP is not in coma; it’s not in a vegetative state. Yes, we have challenges, some of which are external, but more damages are the ones within. Again, we are working that rope surely towards convention,” Ologunagba stated.

Egalitarian Voice reports that Governor Mbah and his cabinet members formally defected from the PDP to the APC on Tuesday, in what many described as a major political upset in the South-East.
Meanwhile, elder statesman and PDP chieftain, Chief Bode George, has expressed shock over Mbah’s defection, noting that despite several interventions by party elders, he never anticipated such a move.
“I never saw it at any time. In fact, when Anyanwu was brought back as secretary to complete his assignment, he asked his people not to attend meetings,” George said during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
While wishing Mbah well in his new political journey, George insisted that the PDP remains strong and resilient, stressing that the recent wave of defections cannot erode the party’s deep-rooted structures across the country.
