PDP Loses Another Member As Former Lawmaker Joins APC
Classic made the announcement on Thursday following a meeting with key APC leaders, including the Zamfara State APC Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, Chairman of Senator Abdulaziz Yari’s Political Organization, Alhaji Lawal M. Liman, and other prominent APC stakeholders from Zamfara State in Kaduna.
Classic, who represented the Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency from 2019 to 2023 under the PDP, revealed that he was not defecting alone but with the entire PDP structure in Talata Mafara Local Government Area. This included the local PDP Executive Committee and 10 out of the 11 Ward Chairmen in the area.

The former lawmaker cited a lack of justice and fairness within the PDP’s operations in Zamfara as his primary reason for leaving the party. “I, Kabiru Yahaya Classic, today, Thursday, November 7, 2024, wish to announce my defection from the PDP to the Progressive Party, the APC,” he stated, confirming his departure along with the PDP structures in Talata Mafara Local Government.
Welcoming Classic to the APC, Zamfara State APC Chairman Tukur Umar Danfulani expressed his happiness, calling the defection a positive development for the party. “We are happy to welcome our brother into our great party. This is a significant step forward. We are expecting more defectors from the PDP-led government in Zamfara to join the APC soon,” Danfulani said.
He assured Classic and the other defectors of fair treatment within the APC, emphasizing that the party would continue to welcome those seeking a more just and inclusive political environment.
