The expulsion, which is effective immediately, was based on accusations of gross indiscipline, insubordination, and anti-party activities.
This decision was communicated by the Ideato Local Government Area (LGA) chapter of the PDP in a letter dated December 5, 2024. The letter, signed by LGA Chairman Hon. ThankGod Okeke and Secretary Onyebuchi Umeh, was addressed to the party’s State Chairman. The expulsion follows the findings of a disciplinary committee, which investigated the allegations and submitted its report on November 27, 2024, in line with Section 57 (1-4) of the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended).
The disciplinary process began after Ugochinyere was suspended by the Umuopia/Umukegwu ward on October 14, 2024, due to his failure to attend a meeting of the ward’s Executive Committee on October 5, despite repeated invitations and reminders.

The expulsion letter stated: “Upon receipt of the report, the LGA Executive Committee of Ideato North met on December 5, 2024, and unanimously adopted the report of the disciplinary committee. As a result, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwonu is hereby expelled from the PDP, effective immediately, and ceases to be a member of the party in Umuopia/Umukegwu ward of Ideato North LGA.”

The disciplinary committee found Ugochinyere guilty of several violations, including:
1.Failing to attend meetings and participate in party activities for an extended period, in violation of Section 58(1)(e).
2.Publicly discussing internal party disputes without authorization, contrary to Section 58(1)(i).
3.Establishing parallel party structures at the ward, LGA, and national levels, against the party’s constitution.
4.Making derogatory public statements about the party and its leaders, bringing the party into disrepute.
The PDP stressed that these actions violated its constitution and harmed the party’s unity and public reputation.
