A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State and former House of Representatives aspirant, Dr. Adejoke Adekanmbi Akinseye (AAA), has announced her resignation from the party, citing neglect and disregard from the leadership, particularly in relation to the treatment of women who contested in the last general election, Egalitarian Voice reports.
Dr. Akinseye, who contested under the PDP for the Ibadan Northeast/Southeast Federal Constituency seat in 2023, expressed deep disappointment over what she described as being “practically ignored” despite her visible and sacrificial efforts toward the success of Governor Seyi Makinde’s re-election.
She added that her decision to leave the party was not made lightly but came after a prolonged period of neglect and lack of appreciation for her contributions, especially from the party hierarchy she had once worked closely with.
Dr. Akinseye, however, extended heartfelt appreciation to all stakeholders and members of the PDP with whom she shared memories and struggles in building the party over the years.
“I value the time we spent building together. But it’s time to move on. I believe in equity, fairness, and recognition of women in politics,” she said.
