The Oyo State Government has announced that football fans will be granted free access to the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, for the highly anticipated FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier between Nigeria’s Falconets and Rwanda on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, made this known while briefing journalists in Ibadan on Monday. She said the gesture was part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration’s commitment to promoting sports development and ensuring massive support for the national team.
Adegoke explained that the state government considered the qualifier a historic opportunity for Oyo State to showcase its world-class sporting facilities while also boosting grassroots passion for football.
“We want to see the stands filled with enthusiastic fans cheering our girls to victory. His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, believes that sports remain a unifying factor, and this match is another chance to demonstrate Oyo State’s unwavering support for the growth of football in Nigeria,” the commissioner said.
She called on residents across Ibadan and neighboring towns to troop out en masse to support the Falconets, adding that adequate security, transportation, and crowd management measures have been put in place to ensure a safe and exciting match-day experience.
The Falconets, Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team, will be looking to secure a decisive win against Rwanda as they continue their campaign for a place at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
