Oyo State Pacesetter Transport Services (PTS), under the leadership of Chairman and Sole Administrator, Hon. Dr. Oladeji Ibraheem Salami (DIKKO), today, September 2, 2024, received the first set of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses at the Pacesetter Transport Services office, Eleyele, Ibadan.
The mini buses, numbering 20 in the first batch, were handed over to the Oyo State government by Engr. Micheal Oluwagbemi, Team Lead of Pi-CNG, alongside Dr. Zacheous Adedeji, Chairman of the Steering Committee and FIRS Chairman.
Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi expressed optimism that the buses would help ease transportation problems in Oyo State. The CNG buses were driven to the forecourt of the Pacesetter Transport office, where the handover ceremony took place.
In his remarks, Dr. Oladeji Ibraheem Salami (DIKKO) appreciated the federal government of Nigeria on behalf of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, FNSE. He emphasized that these buses would ease transportation problems in the state, adding, “We can absorb 100, 150, 200 CNG buses. We are Oliver Twist, as Governor Makinde’s administration is doing fine, and Oyo State is moving forward. Our roads are fixed for possible sustainable maintenance of the buses.”
Both the Federal Government representatives and Oyo State government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the buses. Dr. Dikko noted that the buses would be fully commissioned to start work upon Governor Makinde’s return from his annual leave.
Dignitaries at the event included Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi, Team Lead of Pi-CNG and an Ibadan-born, Dr. Zacheous Adedeji, Chairman of the Steering Committee and FIRS Chairman, Hon. Dr. Oladeji Ibraheem Salami (DIKKO), Chairman and Sole Administrator of Oyo PTS, Mr. Ademola Aderinto, Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Busoye Ogunlade, Chairman OYSROMA, and Mr. Isaac Brown, among other personalities.
