In a daring rescue operation, Oyo Amotekun operatives have freed Mr. Olabiyisi Mobolaji, a kidnap victim, in Afijio Local Government, Oyo State. The rescue was carried out amidst heavy gunfire exchange with the kidnappers, marking Amotekun’s fifth successful rescue mission in one week.
According to eyewitnesses, Mr. Mobolaji was kidnapped from his house around 1 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, in the Jobele area of Afijio Local Government. The kidnappers demanded a staggering ₦100 million ransom.
However, Amotekun operatives sprang into action, tracking the kidnappers to their hideout. After a tense standoff, the operatives successfully rescued Mr. Mobolaji alive around 5 p.m. on the same day.

The rescue team involved Afijio, Oyo East, Oyo West, Atiba with a special force from Oyo State Amotekun Operational Base.
Egalitarianvoice reports that this rescue mission is the latest in a series of successful operations by Amotekun. Just last week, the corps rescued four other kidnap victims in different parts of the state.
On February 22, Amotekun operatives rescued a farmer, Mr. Olaleye Taiwo, who was kidnapped in the Igangan area of Ibarapa North Local Government. The kidnappers had demanded ₦50 million ransom.
Two days later, on February 24, Amotekun rescued two siblings, Abidemi and Abiodun Ogundeji, who were kidnapped in the Ojoo area of Ibadan. The kidnappers had demanded ₦20 million ransom.

On February 26, Amotekun operatives rescued a woman, Mrs. Funmilayo Ogunjobi, who was kidnapped in the Egbeda area of Ibadan. The kidnappers had demanded ₦30 million ransom.
With the latest rescue of Mr. Mobolaji, Amotekun has proven its effectiveness in combating kidnapping and other crimes in Oyo State. The corps has been praised by residents and stakeholders for its proactive approach to security.
Mr. Mobolaji, who was visibly shaken but grateful, thanked Amotekun operatives for securing his life. “I was in my home when the kidnappers came. They took me away and demanded ₦100 million ransom. But Amotekun operatives tracked them down and rescued me. I’m grateful to them,” he said.
The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has commended Amotekun operatives for their bravery and professionalism. “I’m proud of the work Amotekun is doing to keep our state safe. We will continue to support them in their efforts to combat crime,” he said.

The Amotekun corps has assured residents of Oyo State that it will continue to work tirelessly to ensure their safety and security.
