More than 2,000 coalition partners from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Action Alliance (AA), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State attended the state’s expanded stakeholders meeting.
Speaking during the one-day expanded meeting held in Abakaliki over the weekend, the ADC State Chairman, Mrs Jenifer Adibe Nwafor, declared the party as the “new bride” of Nigerian politics, attracting defectors from major parties, including the APC, PDP, LP, AA, SDP, among others.
According to her, the official inauguration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State was a paradigm shift in the state’s political arrangements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
She said, “We are not here for a rally or campaign. This is a serious rescue mission. ADC is not new in Ebonyi or Nigeria — we’ve come to stay.”
The meeting, attended by party faithful from all 13 local government areas and coalition partners, culminated in a unanimous vote of confidence in Nwafor’s leadership.

The motion was moved by Hon. Vitalis Igboke of the Ohazurmba Movement and seconded by Dr Christopher Nwonu, Esq.
Mrs Nwafor warned against backdoor membership and emphasised the need for unity under one recognised ADC structure. “There’s only one ADC in Ebonyi. No factions. Anyone claiming otherwise must identify openly.”
Coalition stakeholders described the ADC movement as a source of panic among the ruling party circles. “This movement has sent fear into APC camps across the country. A storm is coming.”
Speakers, including Chuks Obiri, Orji Joseph of the Ohanivo Group Foundation, and Chinenye Ogazi, among others, called for aggressive grassroots mobilisation, structured ward and local government leadership, legal support, and strategic media engagement.
“This is not about money politics. It’s about rebuilding Nigeria”, they emphasised, urging members to focus on sensitising rural communities, especially illiterate voters, ahead of the election season.
They also called for transparency, accountability, and merit-based leadership, while urging ADC leaders to bridge the gap between top-level officials and grassroots supporters.

Meanwhile, Nwafor, in an interview with journalists shortly after the meeting, described the party faithful as a united force ever ready to reposition Nigeria’s democratic governance from the top to the bottom come the 2027 general elections.
“We are focused. We are united. We are ready to rescue Nigeria come 2027, starting from Ebonyi”, she declared.
