ONA ARA 2023: WHY IT SHOULD BE INTELLECTUALS?
By: Agboola Bukunmi Alade (Ward 5, Tayi Idi-Osan)
As we approach the 2023 general elections, I wish to bring out some analysis to the good people of ona ara LG on reasons we should rather vote Oladipupo Olalekan INTELLECTUALS/SDP as the next Candidate to represent the constituency at oyo state assembly.
1. Age
I have heard of at least 6 Candidates from different Political parties across board. It is very clear that Candidates from the two popular parties (APC & PDP) are far away from been called youth.
I think our assembly should be entrust in the hands of youth at least for the first time in about six (6) dispensations.
Other Political parties have their tickets to members of the youth. As much as we have many vibrant youths in the local government, I think the most popular among them who can withstand the heat of the two popular parties is only INTELLECTUALS. I’m not rooting for him because he is a youth but because he is competent and vibrant who has what it takes and can bring the desired positive change to Ona Ara and Oyo state at large
2. Records
In Ona ara local government area of today, considering all Candidates across board not exempting that of the PDP who happens to be the recent deputy speaker and that of the APC who was a former chairman of the council, it is only INTELLECTUALS that have a clear investment in the local government and employed strictly constituent of the local government. Those investments alone are collaterals to giving our mandate to him.
3. Acceptability and popularity
This time around, we need a representative we can all identify with. A popular representative whom an average ona ara indigene irrespective of age or status, can easily work up to and agitate their right.
4. Competency & Vibrancy
INTELLECTUALS has proven in many occasions to have been a vibrant youth in the local government. He was the secretary to ONA ARA FOOD BANK during the COVID-19 pandemic and the entire members of the team certified his competency and trustworthiness in handling public trust.
INTELLECTUALS was also the volunteer supervisor who monitored Ibadan centres in the OYO JAMB EXTRAMURAL CLASSES during the tenure of prof. Sangodoyin as the commissioner of education. His high level of competency manifested in the UTME, WAEC and NECO results of the students.
I have not in anyway come to campaign for SDP as a political because I am not even a member of the party. But as the political party, SDP, has given mandate to the Candidate of the people, then it is paramount we vote the party at least at the state assembly in order to have our aim achieved in delivering INTELLECTUALS as the next assembly member.
