In Fiditi, there’s a saying that no matter how far the river flows, it never forgets its source. That saying perfectly describes the journey of Hon. Olaleye Olusegun Thomas.
Born and raised in Afijio Local Government, he grew up surrounded by the values we all hold dear — hard work, respect for others, and a love for community. Like many young people with big dreams, life took him beyond Nigeria’s borders to Canada, where he built a successful career and gained exposure to how things are done in other parts of the world.

But even thousands of miles away, Afijio was never far from his mind. While living abroad, he kept in touch, lent a helping hand where he could, and kept his heart firmly rooted in the soil of home. He saw how communities in Canada worked together, how leaders delivered results, and how governments truly listened to the people. And he began to dream what if Afijio had that same kind of representation?

Now, as we look ahead to 2027, we are faced with an important choice. This is not about politics as usual, nor about condemning those who have served before. It’s about choosing the kind of voice we want speaking for us. Afijio needs someone competent, someone exposed to the wider world, and someone deeply connected to our people.
Hon. Olaleye Olusegun Thomas is that bridge between our local hopes and global possibilities. He understands the struggles of the farmer in Ilora, the dreams of the student in Awe, and the determination of the trader in Fiditi because he is one of us. And he has the experience, exposure, and heart to turn those dreams into real change.
Come 2027, let us send a representative who will not only speak for Afijio but will fight for her with the strength of someone who has never forgotten where he comes from. Supporting Hon. Olaleye Olusegun Thomas is choosing competence, compassion, and a brighter future for us all.
