The management of Obafemi Awolowo University has distanced itself from the viral dressing code. The school authority said that the code and the correspondent punishments for breaking them didn’t emanate from the institution.
In the viral code, it’s shown that punishments ranging from rustication to suspension would be meted out to students who violate the dressing code or appear sexual while on campus.
The spokesperson of OAU, Mr. Abiodun Olanrewaju distanced the ivory tower from the purported viral circular. Mr. Olanrewaju said that it’s true that the university management is working on the code, but the one on the internet didn’t come from the school.
The OAU imagemaker, Olanrewaju, said, “It is not from the university administration. Although we are working on our own, I think those who brought out that one are just being mischievous. Maybe they are trying to gauge the minds of the students and the people, but definitely this is a university, and we can’t accept any dress code. We have decency.”
OAU students union has reacted to the circular through the President, General Secretary and the Public Relations Officer. They condemned the decision of the school management to come up with the code.
