COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE SOUTHWEST CAUCUS MEETING OF THE NIGERIAN YOUTH CONGRESS

The Southwest Caucus of the Nigerian Youth Congress convened a strategic meeting attended by chairmen from the six Southwestern states. The session opened with prayers led by Comrade Seyifunmi Afolabi (Ogun State Chairman) and was closed by Comrade Olayemi Oloribigbe Monsur (Osun State Chairman).
After deliberations on youth-related issues and regional progress, the following resolutions and appointments were made:
KEY RESOLUTIONS
1. Caucus Objectives & Unity:
Introduction of state chairmen and affirmation of the Southwest Caucus’ core goals—unity, proactive engagement, and policy advocacy.
2. Correspondence to National HQ:
A formal letter will be sent to the National Headquarters of the NYC via the Chief of Staff, articulating the concerns and priorities of the Southwest region.
3. Awareness & Visibility:
The Caucus will intensify awareness efforts to spotlight Southwest chairmen and promote regional unity.
4. Media Engagement:
A press release will be issued jointly by all chairmen, and presented to a national TV station. It will urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to address the rising tariff charges and broader youth challenges.
5. Caucus Branding:
A regional letterhead for the Southwest Caucus will be designed to enhance branding and communication.
6. Governors’ Engagement:
The Caucus agreed to formally engage with the Southwest Governors’ Forum for strategic partnerships in youth-focused projects.

7. Next Meeting Host – Lagos:
The next physical meeting will be hosted by the Lagos State Chapter, where chairmen will meet with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and tour key state projects.
8. Unity in Appearance:
Chairmen will attend public events in a unified outfit to project solidarity and cohesiveness.

Following a unanimous vote, the Southwest Caucus approved the following leadership appointments:
- Aare Adedara Temitope Moses (Ekiti State) – Chairman, Southwest Caucus
- Comrade Abdulfatai Adeyemi LEGACY (Oyo State) – Director of Media & Publicity, Southwest Caucus
