Nigerian-Canadian Olaleye Olusegun Thomas Rallies Ibadan North Support for PDP’s Folajimi Oyekunle Ahead of Aug 16 By-Election
A Nigerian-Canadian community leader and philanthropist, Olaleye Olusegun Thomas, has called on residents of Ibadan North Local Government to come out en masse and vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, in the forthcoming House of Representatives by-election slated for Saturday, August 16, 2025.
Hon Olaleye urged stakeholders’ community leaders, youth groups, and market associations in Ibadan North to stand firmly with the PDP, noting that the party has demonstrated commitment to grassroots development under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
He commended Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle for his track record in youth empowerment, educational support, and community service, describing him as “a dependable representative who will carry the voice of Ibadan North to the National Assembly.”
Hon Olaleye, who resides in Canada but maintains strong ties with his hometown (Afijio) having many followers in Ibadan, emphasized that the by-election offers residents an opportunity to strengthen PDP’s legislative presence and secure more developmental projects for the constituency.

“Folajimi Oyekunle has the experience, passion, and credibility to represent our people effectively. On August 16, let us come together, vote, and protect our mandate,” he stated.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) scheduled the by-election following the vacancy of the Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
