ALERT: NCDC Issues Nationwide Advisory Over Recent Ebola Reports
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has confirmed that Nigeria remains free of Ebola virus disease, even as the Democratic Republic of Congo battles a fresh outbreak.
In a detailed public health advisory released by Director-General Dr. Jide Idris, the agency highlighted intensified surveillance at border points and reinforced hospital infection control as part of preventive measures.
“There are no cases of Ebola virus disease in Nigeria, as of now. However, the NCDC, in collaboration with relevant Ministries, Departments, Agencies, and partners, continues to monitor disease occurrence and initiate measures to strengthen our preparedness in the country,” the advisory said.
The agency has also activated its risk communication and community engagement platforms to counter misinformation and provide citizens with reliable updates.
According to the World Health Organization, DR Congo has recorded 28 suspected cases and 16 deaths, including four medical workers.

The NCDC warned against unnecessary travel to affected countries and advised Nigerians to adopt strict hygiene, avoid contact with fruit bats, monkeys, and undercooked meat, and report any suspected Ebola symptoms immediately.
