NAPS Declares Chief Ajibola Persona Non Grata Over Disparaging Comment Against Polytechnics

PRESS RELEASE
National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS)

The attention of the leadership of the senate arm of National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), under the stewardship of Sen. Comrade Oyewumi Festus Ayomide the president of the senate, has been drawn to the reckless and misinformed comment credited to Chief Ajibola popularly known as General H, where he chose to deliberately recognize and glorify university institutions while ignoring polytechnic institutions in Oyo State.

This unfortunate statement is not only insulting but also a direct attempt to promote the age-long and shameful dichotomy between university and polytechnic education in Nigeria. It is disturbing that in a state where polytechnics remain a strong pillar of manpower development, Chief Ajibola would shamelessly pretend as though students of the University of Ibadan and Lead City University are the only ones who patronize his business.

NAPS Honours Federal Cooperative College Provost, Dr. Ibrahim AbdulGaniyu, with Outstanding Leadership Award

For the record, Polytechnic Ibadan, Federal Cooperative College Ibadan, Oyo state college of Agriculture and Technology Igboora , Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Saki, Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, and several others in Oyo State constitute a larger student population who also patronize his businesses daily. The attempt to sideline these great institutions is a direct insult to our identity, our students, and our contributions to society.

We, the entire polytechnic students of Nigeria, therefore declare Chief Ajibola a persona non grata on all polytechnic campuses in Oyo State until he publicly retracts his comment and tenders an unreserved apology to the polytechnic community.

No Life is Cheap: NAPS Senate Arm Backs Protest Against Dangote Plc

Furthermore, we call on all polytechnic students across Oyo State to immediately desist from patronizing any of his businesses. A man who benefits immensely from the sweat of polytechnic students cannot be allowed to disrespect us in broad daylight.

Chief Ajibola must understand clearly that our polytechnics are not inferior institutions and that no individual, no matter their influence, will be allowed to demean our identity or promote educational apartheid.

Until he does the needful, he should confine his business and goodwill to the same university campuses he so selectively recognizes.

Signed,
Sen. Comrade Oyewumi Festus Ayomide
President of the senate, National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS)

Comrade Jimoh Ibrahim Ajadi
Clerk of the senate, National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS)

August 25, 2025.
