MONDAY MORNING REFLECTIONS(MMR)
SAY IT LOUD, PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU MUST SUCCEED.
The success of the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu in office is a MUST. For the sake of posterity and political advancement of the All Progressives Congress in Nigeria, this is not debatable, and it is non-negotiable. It is of utmost importance for the pride of our race, that is, the Yoruba not to be watered down. Therefore, it is imperative for us to join hands with Mr President to make him excel in office because he is one of us.
I listened to one of the songs of General Prince Adekunle: “Aiye nreti eleya (Aropin Ntenia)“. Yes, the gang up is increasing by the day against the ruling party by the opposition parties on one hand and the “cabals” on the other hand. Even, individuals who cannot fix the challenges in their homes are wagging their tongues and running their mouths castigating the president for not doing enough to take Nigeria out of the woods on time.
Those with short memories have forgotten so soon where we are coming from. At least some of us still do. They have forgotten that the economy was in shambles before the last general elections. They have forgotten so soon that the economy was at the precipe of collapsing totally under the previous administrations before PBAT came on board. The bastardization of the economy has been done over the years with reckless abandon. But we probably slept off not knowing that we were sitting on the keg of gunpowder.
The sorry state of security in Nigeria was already at its peak. I wrote last year that former President Muhammadu Buhari met Nigeria in darkness and left us in darkness. Electricity supply then was at its lowest ebb. The dollar to naira exchange was being heavily and uneconomically subsidized by the government for naira to be enjoying artificial value. The benefits of which substantially was going for the privileged few. The ratio of the nation’s debt to the national income was put at 97%. The hydra-headed monster of sick economy, insecurity, corruption, power and energy crises have always been there.

Now that Mr President is just in the second year of his four years tenure, people are already running out of patience. They are already calling for the head of Mr President. They are ignorant of the fact that policies of government require gestation period to mature, and for the results of it to begin to manifest requires time. It requires planning, articulation, gumption and other elements committed to the system in order to change the present tide. There is no shortcut about it.
The president as a politician that derives his legitimacy to rule the country from the people’s mandate cannot afford to be blindfolded and insensitive to the plights of the people. The biting economic situation of the country is real and painful. This is obvious, and it is a statement of fact. That there is hunger and hardship in the land is not at all a fallacy and cannot be denied by anybody. That Nigerians deserve a better condition of living is nothing far from being correct, and must not be taken for granted.
But the fact still remains that the government is not standing aloof. We can presume that those in authorities by now must be working tirelessly to arrest the unpalatable living condition of the people or else they will face the consequences at the appropriate time. This is what they were elected to do, that is, to give us security and improve our welfare. Therefore, they can only be doing otherwise if the periodic elections will not hold in 2027 when they will be made to render their account of stewardship to the people for the renewal of their mandates. The days of reckoning are definitely fast approaching.
But while the leadership is working to change the narratives for the betterment of Nigeria and Nigerians, we as followers also need to support them by being patient, prayerful and cooperative with them. It is not by cursing, abusing and running down our country and its leadership, especially Mr President that things will change for the better.
The Scriptures in Romans 13:1 says, “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God”.

This indeed is our own government at the moment as established by the Almighty God. And this government will be there for a period of time as appointed by God and specified by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Whatever that happens within the period of its existence either positive or otherwise will definitely affect us as a people. Therefore, let’s work and pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to succeed. He must not fail !!!
