In a move widely seen as a reflection of Governor Seyi Makinde’s growing political influence, his Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle “DON”, has emerged as the consensus candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming bye-election into the Federal House of Representatives for Ibadan North Federal Constituency as Governor Makinde pledged to reward other aspirants with key positions.
In a demonstration of unity and party loyalty, all six other aspirants stepped down and pledged their full support for Oyekunle’s candidacy.
The strategic meeting that produced the consensus candidate was attended by top PDP leaders and stakeholders, including: Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Chief Bayo Lawal, Senior Executive Assistant to the Governor, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, PDP State Secretary, Baba Ismail Ashipa, respected Ibadan North PDP chieftain
This outcome further consolidates Governor Makinde’s leadership within the PDP and positions the party strongly ahead of the bye-election.
