In a significant move to enhance the welfare and morale of Amotekun operatives, Egalitarian voice reports that Governor Seyi Makinde has approved a hardship allowance for all the corps members. This announcement was made during the passing-out ceremony of newly recruited officers today at Iseyin, where the governor acknowledged the critical role Amotekun plays in maintaining peace and order in the state.
Governor Makinde, who has prioritized security since assuming office, emphasized the importance of supporting Amotekun operatives in their critical role of maintaining peace and order in the state.
“Our Amotekun corps members are the unsung heroes of our security architecture. They work tirelessly, often in challenging conditions, to ensure our communities remain safe. This hardship allowance is a token of our appreciation for their selfless service,” Governor Makinde said.

Key Highlights of the Announcement
1. Hardship allowance to be paid monthly to all Amotekun operatives.
2. Immediate implementation, retroactive to the beginning of the current month.
3. Additional incentives for outstanding performance and bravery.
4. Ongoing training and capacity-building programs to enhance operational efficiency.
Since its inception, the Oyo State Amotekun Corps has been instrumental in Curbing kidnapping and banditry, enhancing community policing, and Collaborating with traditional security agencies.
“We are grateful to Governor Makinde for this gesture. It will motivate us to work even harder to protect our communities,” said an Amotekun operative, who wished to remain anonymous.
In addition, Governor Makinde has also promised to recruit more operatives soon, with an approval for the recruitment of additional corps into the South Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun.
