The Governor of Oyo State and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Seyi Makinde on Thursday held the flag off of his re-election campaign in Ibadan, the state capital.
The event was held at the ancient Mapo hall in Ibadan, the state capital.
Egalitarian Voice News had earlier reported that the four other aggrieved members of the PDP identified as the G-5 were in the state to support their colleague.
The aggrieved governors on Thursday charged the supporters of the PDP in the state to support Governor Makinde.
The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike while speaking at the event said Governor Makinde has performed well, adding that voting him for a second term in office would allow him to continue the good works he has started.
He also appealed to supporters of the party to vote for other candidates of the party in the state, noting that in the case of the presidency, Makinde will tell them who to support in 2023.
The event was attended by some stakeholders in the party.
In attendance at the event were Nyesom Wike (Rivers State), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State), Samuel Ortom (Benue State) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State).
Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, ex-governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, the PDP Deputy National Chairman in the South-West, Taofeek Arapaja, the party’s Chairman in Oyo, Bayo Ogungbenro and several others.
