The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate in Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye, has assured public servants in the State that he will end the traumatizing Percentage Salary Payments which had ravaged the lives of the workers as well as the economy of the State in the last eight years.
Melaye, who stated this during his visit to the Traditional Rulers and Council of Chiefs of Mopa-Amuro, Yagba-East and Yagba-West Local Government Areas in their respective headquarters, said he will also ensure that the rights and powers of the traditional leaders in the State will be restored immediately he is elected into office as Governor.
The traditional rulers that received the PDP candidate in their respective palace were the Elulu of Mopa, Oba Julius Joledo; the Agbana of Isanlu, Oba Moses Etombi as well as the Elegbe of Egbe, Oba Ayodele Irukera.
Melaye noted that the economy of Kogi State is in quagmire because workers and pensioners in the State are earning ridiculous salaries and pensions which come in percentages whichever month it suits the desire of the APC-led State Governor to pay.
He promised to rescue the people of Kogi State from hunger and starvation noting that as governor, he would think outside of the box to harness resources and develop the State.
“Kogi, our state, has no business with poverty given the numerous resources we have. As governor, we shall open up the State and generate revenues that will enable us as a people to feed ourselves and meet other existential needs”, he said.

“Our royal fathers, your highnesses and majesties will no longer be by mouth alone. We will create the environment that will enable you to participate more robustly in the affairs of the state in beffiting offices.
He urged the people of Kogi State to remain steadfast and continue to rally with the PDP in the determination to rescue the State from the life-discounting misrule of the APC.
