JUST IN: GUNMEN KIDNAP EX-DEPUTY GOVERNOR
A former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Prof Onje Gye-wado has been kidnapped by gunmen.
Gye-Wado was reportedly abducted about 12:30 a.m. on Friday, when armed men broke into his home in Gwagi village of Wamba Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, and forcibly took him away.
The Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel who confirmed the incident via a press release said a police tactical team, in collaboration with other security personnel, had launched a search operation to rescue the victim unharmed.
He said the Commissioner of Police in the state CP Maiyaki Baba has mobilised and deployed “reinforcement comprising Police tactical teams, military, vigilante, and local hunters” to rescue the victim alive.
