The name Jubril Dotun Sanusi rings a bell in Ibadan and across Oyo State. Known for his thriving business ventures and his unmatched philanthropic efforts, Chief Sanusi, the Jagunmolu Olubadan of Ibadanland, has earned widespread admiration and respect. As a social activist and indigenous youth leader, I, Alawode Rahmon Akintunde (Asoju-Odo), Chairman of the Yoruba Council of Youth Worldwide (YCYW) Oyo State, feel compelled to share my thoughts on his remarkable contributions.
Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi’s impact is visible in various sectors, ranging from education to infrastructure. His businesses, including oil & gas drilling and consulting firms, the International College of Arts, Science and Technology (ICAST) School, and the renowned Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, have all become prominent brands under his leadership. However, his philanthropic gestures are what truly set him apart.

Consider his restoration of electricity to Akanran town in Ona Ara Local Government after over 15 years of darkness. His provision of 15 ‘500 KVAs transformers has significantly improved the quality of life for the residents. Similarly, his asphaltic renovation of the 17 km Olorunsogo-Akanran Road stands as a testament to his commitment to community development.
Chief Sanusi’s statewide empowerment training programs, sponsored in conjunction with the YCYW Oyo State Council, have provided invaluable skills and opportunities to the youth. Furthermore, his role in restoring peace in Ibadanland through the first-of-its-kind security summit, organized by Ona Ara Emergency Alert, underscores his dedication to safety and stability.
Additional philanthropic achievements include the provision of two transformers, 500 and 300 KVAs, serving 15 communities in Ona Ara Local Government, commissioned by Governor Seyi Makinde post-2023 elections. These initiatives demonstrate his relentless pursuit of progress and well-being for his people.
As we approach another election cycle, with the 2027 gubernatorial election on the horizon, the political landscape is already abuzz with activity. The election to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde is highly anticipated, with Oyo State poised to solidify its status as a significant economic hub in the Southwest.

In this context, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi emerges as a beacon of hope and leadership. His developmental initiatives, in alignment with the efforts of Governor Makinde, have been groundbreaking. As we look towards the future, his potential candidacy for the Oyo State gubernatorial seat in 2027 offers a promising prospect for sustained development and progress.
